In 1969, Larry Penberthy, a Seattle engineer and lifelong mountaineer, founded Mountain Safety Research (MSR) with a mission to improve the safety of climbing equipment. His belief that better equipment leads to greater adventures still drives our team today. We prioritize designing and manufacturing durable, long-lasting products to reduce waste and offer outdoor enthusiasts more opportunities for adventure. Through extensive testing, both in-house and in the field, we ensure that our products can withstand the wear and tear our customers subject them to. Many of our customers still use MSR stoves from the 1980s, a testament to their enduring quality.
